Jabra cruiser 2 vs Motorola Roadster
After reading all the reviews, I initially went with the Motorola Roadster. I liked that it had the ability to read text messages (my teenage sons favorite way to communicate with me) and that it turned on automatically when I got in the car. Once I had it, it works basically as stated but the sound quality was so poor and the fm transmitter was poor. I bought the Jabra 2 and have been using it for the past few days. I was so surprised when the voice came on reading me a text message! Motorola doesn't tell you this but the app MotoSpeak works with other units! Not only that but the quality of speech is far superior on the Jabra unit. So far, I'm really happy with it. Pairing the In-Car Speakerphone with Your Phone

1. When you turn on your Jabra CRUISER2 for the first time, the in-car speakerphone will automatically start up in pairing mode and begin to tell you what to do next
2. Activate Bluetooth on the phone
3. Press 'Yes' or 'OK' on the phone and confirm with PIN code 0000 (4 zeros)
4. Your phone will confirm when the pairing is complete
5. For later pairing: Turn your in-car speakerphone on. Press and hold the answer/end button until the Connection Status Icon light is flashing blue and the pairing instructions begins

Install It In Your Car

After you have successfully paired you phone (or phones) to your Jabra CRUISER2, use the metal clip on the back of the in-car speakerphone to attach it to your sun visor. That's all the installation needed. You are now ready to drive responsibly.

Great product, but I suspect it's refurbished.
I agree with a previous reviewer that it does not seem the item is 100% unused.According to the product's directions, you are supposed to hear a certain message the very first time the item is ever turned on. I never heard this 'first time on' message, so it seems it may have been a returned/refurbished item. Item does work GREAT, but should have been reduced in price since it seems to be a 'refurbished' item.

Using Your Speakerphone

When you have an incoming call, you will hear "Call from ...." Say "Answer" to accept the call or "Ignore" to reject it. You can also tap the Answer/End button to accept and double tap to reject incoming calls.

You place a call by tapping the Voice button. Wait for the Jabra FREEWAY to say "Say a Command". Then you can say "Phone commands" to activate voice dial on your phone, you can say "Redial" to redial the last number you called or "Call back" to call back the last call you received on the Jabra FREEWAY.

I got the Freeway along with my iPhone 4S. It connected easily, and reconnects every time I get into my car. I sit down, and by the time I turn the ignition, it's reconnected (and lets you know by saying so). It works great as a speakerphone, callers sound good and I sound good to them. The volume goes up pretty high so you can still hear fine if you have a loud car. If you press and hold the big phone button for about 2 seconds, Siri will activate if you have it on your iPhone. Siri will use the Freeway's mic and speaker to talk to you. It's great to just press the button overhead and be able to have all of Siri's functions. If you're listening to music while you activate Siri, the music will fade out, and when you're done with it, the music fades back in.Playing music is fairly mediocre through the speaker. While I didn't expect amazing sound out of the tiny package, it's hardly the amazing surround sound that Jabra advertises. Most songs are going to sound fine, but if...

The Jabra Freeway is very sleek and comes with a free and optional one-year subscription to VoiceAssist.Setting the unit up was easy.1. Before I could use the Jabra Freeway, I charged it for two hours using the supplied USB cable with car charger.2. Next I made sure the cell phone was Bluetooth-enabled and turned on the Jabra unit.3. It immediately went into pairing mode. As it is pairing with the phone device, the prompts on the phone needed to be followed and the supplied security code had to be entered (not everyone will have to enter a security code; it depends on the phone)4. The thing about a bluetooth speakerphone or earpiece is that it works best when you actually have it with you. Now, that sounds obvious, and it is, but it's funny how often I'm surprised by how true it is. Worked like a charm
For a test, I had my wife set this up. She's not that familiar or comfortable with blue-tooth devices, so I thought doing this would be a good trial. She has a blue tooth capable smart phone, and she had no problem whatsoever connecting it to her phone and using it.Sound quality is quite good, both for the user of this speakerphone, and for the person on the other end of the call. Good as long as you're not around a lot of noise
I'm not a fan of the bluetooth sets that you stick in your ear so the idea of reviewing a speakerphone version was actually right up my alley. I seem to get most of my phone calls when I'm in my car, so this scenario worked our well for me for the most part.Here are the pros and cons of my experience:The Good: Easy to use, easy to set up. I'm slowly getting more savvy with electronics but I'm still pretty much a dim bulb as far as set up and everything goes. This didn't really come with any instructions but then they didn't really need to for the most part. My phone connected rather quickly to the Jabra, which was good, and I was soon on my way to making many, many phone calls. I liked that I could clip it to my visor and let it do its thing up there. Also nice was that I could use it to listen to music that I had downloaded to my phone. The battery charge lasts long enough for my purposes and I liked that you could easily replace the cord if you lost/forgot...

Very cool product!
I love Bluetooth but was never really satisfied with the audio quality of my Bluetooth headset when driving so I thought I would try buying a device that was specifically designed to let you take calls in a vehicle. This is a really cool product! It does all the basic stuff you would expect in terms of taking phone calls but has the added feature of an FM transmitter so you can use your car speakers instead of the smaller built-in speaker. Now incoming call volume level is never an issue. If your car radio has RDS (I forget what it stands for but if you see artist and song title when listening to a radio station then you have it) you can see the incoming phone number on your radio display. Cooler still is that it supports Bluetooth stereo so I can stream music directly from my phone (or iPod Touch) and listen to it on my car speakers. I've had the Cruiser for less than a week. So far, it's been an excellent experience. I use it paired with an iphone for telephone conversation as well as for listening to music & podcasts in the car. I have it clipped to my visor directly in front of me.Pluses --- Voice guided pairing was a snap. I like the voice announcements in general, telling you what mode it is in, etc.- Very good sound quality and noise rejection, even in a small sports car. It's not perfect, but works at least as well as any BT headset that I've owned. The people I call never complain about my voice quality, and I'd give it about an 8/10 for incoming call sound quality.- FM transmitter works very well ... as well or better than the dedicated "beamers" I've had. I use it mostly in this mode, listening to calls & music through the car stereo speakers. Music sounds good. It's easy to tune FM frequencies to a blank spot, although you really can't do it while driving...

Great so far - other reviewers need to read manual !
Saw the reviews here - many are just plain incorrect, very likely they did not bother to read the manual, which as the quickstart guide says 'the full version is online at jabra'.A few examples:Voice dialing: If your phone has this capability - you can voice dial no problem: Record the voiceprint for a number (via your phones feature), preferably while using the speakerphone so its better matched, then to use it 'press' - hold button for approx 1sec - (as opposed to tap, which is means 'quick click") the main answer button then say name - works fine, even with an old moto razr phone.Power: Again, RTM - to save power (a great feature), the speakerphone sleeps after 10 minutes: To wake up, rather than cycle the less handy power switch, simply tap the main answer buttonBright lights: There is a way to go into night mode: "Press FM and volume up button simultaneously when the speakerphone is on. I own 3 Jabra Journey
I bought one unit for my truck. After about 90 min initial power charge, I merely turned on my iPhone 4 and the Jabra unit. The Jabra immediately went into the binding mode, I went to settings on my iPhone, selected Bluetooth and selected the Jabra Journey. Done. It took maybe 8 seconds total. I used the Jabra speakerphone to both answer incoming calls either by just saying "answer" or I could took answer on the iPhone. I can also initiate a call by saying "call" and a name that is associated to my iPhone call lists. Bang. Done. I was so impressed with the ease of use, volume and clarity of the Jabra Journey that I bought another for my Corvette convertible. I thought that would be a good test, too, due to the background noises from my vette and my satellite radio. Nope, no problem. Jabra worked perfectly. So the final test I bought one more for my wife. She is finicky about electronics, but I really wanted her hands-free in the car. She had it done cold in her first call. So...

Easy To Setup and Use

Jabra "Journey" Bluetooth In-car Speakerphone received for review from Amazon was thoroughly tested for past one week in both our aging noisy old cars (BTW Both are FORD) and I am pleased to let readers know that the results have been very satisfactory for the price at which it is been currently offered.Read the full review for nitty gritty details:Design and aesthetics:======================It is smaller than Jabra cruiser and does not take up too much of space on your car's visor. The buttons are nicely rubberized and easy to press. The Blue Visual indicator is bright enough to be visible in broad daylight. During charging the Indicator LED turns RED and when charging is complete it turn OFF. It does look gorgeous but the shiny accent lining contour surface sometimes can be distracting when there is bright light falling on the device. The visor clip is perfect for most car visors and seems sturdy enough to last a long time.Power ON/OFF...

Loud and clear
charge it and turn it on. It walks you thru the set-up in a minute or so.One thing I've found I don't like, and it may be a matter of tweaking my phone, calls are at a lower level than GPS.Loud and clear for GPS. I can answer calls with my voice. Haven't got dial to work yet, but I'd imagine that's the phone.Has an auto-time out feature and a motion detector turn on.It also detects a device coming into its' Range and lets you know.Maybe it warrants a 5. Time will tell.I have 2 GPS apps in my phone, one a Google and the other TeleNAV. So far the Google one seems to have its' first word or so sometimes cut off. Annoying when you're trying to follow directions.TeleNAV didn't exhibit this problem.
