Best Controller Ever
I was looking for a contoller and they all seemed the same. 2 Channnels, 1 Mic and they only worked with the software they came with. I was blown away by the VMS4. 4 Channels that can be used for USB input and Analog inputs. If I want to use my CD player and my computer all at the same time, I can. Also, 2 mic inputs. The mics did not sound great, but I callled American Audio and they sent me the fix. Now it sounds great! This thing is built like a tank and I am surprised that it is only $499.99. The Virtual DJ software is cool and I upgraded so I can run 4 decks and full video mixing

The American Audio VMS4 is a new USB controller for DJ mixing. It is a bleeding edge piece of hardware that features the capability to operate four decks (mixing with four turntables rather than just two) with buttons and faders to support this functionality. For a DJ controller, the VMS4 works wonderfully and does everything you would need for mixing and more. The buttons are backlit, allowing easy mixing in the dark. The two jog wheel that function as faux-turntables are pretty decent and do not allow for easy scratching. Setting up the VMS4 can be a bit challenging for the average user In order to get it really functioning well with the bundled software, Virtual DJ, I had to search online to get user made patches. It is a pretty bulky unit and the audio is configured in a way that requires a bit of configuring to get it working in either 2 decks or 4 decks mode. I bought my VMS2 in the fall of 2011, knowing that MegaSeg (my DJ software of choice) would soon upgrade to support the features of this mixer. It's been an absolutely fantastic purchase. I mostly DJ at weddings, and having a midi mixer WITH a mic input has made my setup much less cumbersome.I can Cue either or both decks, and seamlessly create loops and beat match with ease. If you've though about a midi controller but have resisted, this is a great choice.It's built like a tank, metal housing, solid controls, and fits well in a Gator bag for the VMS series. Can be powered with the supplied DC power source, but I've been running it off the USB bus without any problems.The VMS comes with an "LE" version of VirtualDJ. If you don't currently have DJ software, or if you're on a windows platform, check it out. I've found nothing more complete and stable that MegaSeg. Give them a try as well. Top to learn more

And the fact that I didn’t have to stand at the tables meant I wouldn’t have to suck in and stand on my tippy toes whenever one of my roommates wanted to use the kitchen. If I could avoid having to stand at the tables, but still try out new ideas the way I’d gotten used to, I just might have it made, no. So I picked up a Mixtrack Pro. I grew to hate the fact that I’d made the switch to digital, was now inextricably tied to my laptop, which held all the music I once had to dig around for, and yet Serato still required me to plug in and stand at my tables if I wanted to try out... That brings us up to date, and you know what that means children: let’s dive in. I recently flew back home to DJ my cousin’s wedding and partly because I knew I was going to have to check my controller and partly because I care about you all so... Around that time I started working with Virtual DJ. I could stay seated on my couch and quickly rifle through a whole set without having to move a muscle. Facing one way I could stand at my tables and mix. Impressive and comfortable as it may be, it’s no place to bring a lady home at the end of the night, and it’s no place to make a name for oneself as a producer either. My tables, mixers, records, speakers, instruments, amps, and controllers lived in a sprawling basement fit for a DJ named King. As I grew more comfortable using VDJ as a practice tool, the idea of using a controller began to make more and more sense. The price-point is indeed higher than that of the Mixtrack Pro (about $400 vs $250), but I went used (for $300) and I haven’t looked back (yet). Started digitizing every record I brought (400 of about 2500 I left at home). If something didn’t work, I could scrap it. I could keep my Serato crates organized and still make changes.
