Works well for a LONG time
The cooler has its faults, like increasing the profile of the drive so the drive takes two bays. There are a few workarounds that may, in some cases, allow the drive and cooler to fit in one bay, but this is a case issue. The cooler itself works well and reduces temperatures 3-5 degrees C, not bad for an inexpensive fan. Careful positioning of the fans will always allow one fan to draw air away from the spindle bearing area of the drive, its hottest point. Not only that, but I bought six EVERCOOL brand coolers with their fans, which claim to be lubricated by "ever lubricate" bearings. Whatever these bearings are they do NOT wear out. After five years in a RAID server, all the fans & coolers checked out and were the only parts reused in the new server. For the price you cannot expect more. Excellent product, although like most hard drive coolers, large and not the most efficient coolers around.

Is it Really New?
This review is not about the drive itself. It's good product. I've been burned buy a seller here on Amazon who sold me drives they claimed were new. Instead, they were used for more than three years. One was even formatted already. Foremost found lots of nice data! Use smartmontools and a cable to test whether the drive is new. Smartmontools does not lie. Why? the drive stores the number of hours the drive has been in use and smartmontools gets this information out of the drive. There's no excuse! There's even a Windows executable of smartmontools.

What's included?
The picture and technical description don't make clear what is included. In addition to the USB to IDE/SATA adapter shown, it includes a 5-inch 7-pin M/M serial ATA Cable, a power supply for both SATA power and 4-pin Molex power, and a single page of concise, clear instructions. It was everything that I needed to connect an IDE disk from a defunct computer to the USB port of my laptop. Amazingly Vista could read the IDE disk with no additional software.

A great solution albeit with some cable clutter
Customer Video Review Length:: 4:12 MinsI've got a drawer full of old hard drives that I wanted to trash but not before retrieving anything that I needed off of them. Prior to buying the Cables To Go Adapter, I would have to laboriously install each drive into a firewire/USB enclosure that I had and the whole process took way too long. I finally smartened up and bought the Cables To Go adapter and it has made the task of hooking up a bare drive so much easier and faster. Now all I have to do is plug two cables into my bare SATA drive, power up the drive, and then hook up the USB cable to my computer. The HD mounts up quickly and I'm then able to do whatever I'd normally be able to do with the HD whether it's transfer files off or on to it, run diagnostics on it... whatever. This solves a problem for me and does so very reliably and inexpensively. I give it 5 stars. The only thing you need to be careful of is that you will end up with some cable clutter on your desk, so you...

No problems, installed in 2 minutes
After a bad experience with a similar product sold by eforcity, I was a bit nervous about buying another IDE to USB converter. The CablesToGo product was a welcome change. Everything worked smoothly and I was able to read the drive immediately. The power cable is well made and even includes a convenient switch on the DC lines to the drive.
