Good quality.
I have not yet started this project, however as soon as I got it I took it out of the package to take a look. The pattern paper is thicker than most others, so there's a lot less worry over whether or not it will tear. I also took a look at the instructions and they appear to be pretty simple and straightforward.

Very good quality pattern - true to size
I bought this pattern to attempt to make an original Hanbok dress. They are so beautiful in the movie Dae Jang Guem that I just had to give it a try. I've yet to start this project but the pattern is very good quality paper that will not tear like the old tissue patterns. I am vey happy with this purchase. It also arrived very quickly.

More enthusiasm than discipline
Mrs. Yang's love and admiration for the beauty of Korean costume are evident throughout the book, which abounds with gorgeous, full-color photographs of hanbok, or native Korean garb. Unfortunately, information on the evolution of hanbok is sparse and difficult to tease out of the text. This appears to be, in large part, due to an actual shortage of data, but this too is difficult to confirm from the text. A more systematic discussion of the sources of available information on Korean costume, and greater attention to chronology in the text, will be desired by costume scholars, though most casual readers will find ample enjoyment in the wonderful photographs of beautiful silk garments.

Good Effort But "Hanbok" Falls Short
I applaud Mrs. Yang's effort in publishing this book because there is just so scant "exposure" of Korean culture in this catagory (fashion art). I appreciated the history in the book as well, though, I thought much of the beginning history of Korea (which was of considerable length) could have been edited out as it really didn't relate to the "art" of Korean clothing. On the other hand, there was not enough mention of the Chinese-Korean relationship in history which influenced the evolution of Korean costume, especially in men's clothing. Also the historical element of this book was weak. Mostly, however, the cover of this book is misleading: I expected to see many more of the ceremonial gowns worn by women of the royal palace. The cover shows a model with a regal dress with many fancy adornments. Inside the book, there are only a few of the color photos of this type of dressing and they are distant photos that you really can't make out much details. I maybe...

If I ever wanted my own set, I would have to probably get it tailor-made, which would cost a fair bit (a full set of tailor-made hanbok could reach upwards of $1000, which is why so few of my Korean friends actually own a set). I haven’t seen hanbok on sale since the Lunar New Year (the cheap Home Plus versions), so I wasn’t sure where to buy a set. Hanbok is the traditional garb of the Korean people. Last month I decided I would finally purchase a set of hanbok and film the video wearing that. One of my students at Wins (my old hagwon) had their parents own a hanbok store, so I went to visit with my two co-workers. Men’s hanbok fare a bit better, but due to the nature of the material (silk), you must be careful you don’t get things dirty. I’ve only worn hanbok a handful of times while living in Daegu. The second time I wore hanbok was during my speech contest. Girls’ hanbok are a little inconvenient due to the size of the skirt, which balloons out directly under the bust. The first time was at Daegu’s Seomun Market (one of the largest traditional markets in Korea. In Gangneung the traditional market is downtown, across from Home Plus, set in a place reminiscent of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley. Koreans tend to only wear it on special holidays, at funerals or on their wedding day.
The hanbok dress, jacket, and shoes are very pretty. This was absolutely the ONLY choice I had for an 18" Korean doll dress, so I took it and my daughter-in-law appreciated my efforts.
