Thomas Firth Jones is a modern practitioner of old-fashioned boat design. His section on "long, narrow powerboats" explains how non-planing boats used to (and still can) go through the water at reasonable speed and with marvelous gas mileage.The first section on small kayak-style canoes includes some simple math to show how he took the weight of the boater and designed a small, hard-chined canoe with that much displacement. One of the best explanations I've seen.An experienced builder could probably craft one of the kayaks from the drawings in the book, but I've built two boats and I would pay for the full-size plans before I put saw to wood.Having said that, the sketches of the boats illustrate the considerations a boat-builder (or boat-buyer) should think about when picking one's dream boat. Do This For A Flawless Self-Tan Without The Sun
This is a great product and if used properly, you will get great results. My application process works great for me, but this is only advice and is not like what you'll find on the product packaging. I'm a guy with average skin color, I tan easily and dark without burning. But I like the near instant tan this product provides, without the dangers of the sun. I use it at the beginning of the summer so I'm not embarrassed to go to the beach, be aware it does not provide any protection from the sun, however being responsible with your sun time, it will blend in well with a natural tan. I also use it after the summer season to keep the tan I get from the beach.First, remove all jewelry. Shower and exfoliate with a soft, yet abrasive spungie or similar item to wash off as much dead skin as possible with liquid body wash. If you don't, your tan won't last as long. Because it works with dead skin, you will have plenty left to make the product work. This will also remove excess...

great stuff
I've tried about 5 different tanning lotions. I just tried a foaming product from neutrogena last night and it dries really quickly and doesnt feel oily at all. I love that about it, BUT the color isnt realistic enough. the color of this banana boat tanning lotion is by far the best. it looks great and it always looks like a tan - not orange at all - the medium color product banana boat sells is a little orangey (well its a word now!!) so I stick to the deep dark. the only drawback is that I feel a gooey with the banana boat all over my body but I still think its the best I have tried and keep going back to it. I'm getting a little concerned because it seems like its harder and harder to find in stores. now I can only find it online.one tip: i sleep between towels the night I apply it so I dont get it all over my sheets, the next morning, I take a shower and bingo! instant where-did-YOU-go-on-vacation glow. : ) temporary relief to peoples' eyes from the corneal...

Best Sunless Tanner Ever
I bought the sunless tanning lotion this week and the results are in. This is truly amazing stuff and works as advertised!I'm a naturally very pale guy, as in Casper the friendly ghost. If you're like me, don't make the mistake of getting the lighter formula, the lighter formulas will always leave you orange. The dark formula will not. If you're worried about looking un-natural or too tan, then all you do is apply ONE coat of the dark formula and you're good to go with a light natural looking tan. I actually used three coats over two days (night-afternoon-night) and it looks amazing like I'm from the Mediterranean. This thing really SUCKS!
Well, what I mean is, the suction cup of the GoPro GSC30 has a lot of holding power. The surface you intend to mount the suction cup on needs to be smooth and nonporous, like the hood of your car or glass window. Suction mount doesn't suck! Just the way I like it!
This mount is awesome. you can mound it OUTSIDE your car while driving (provided you have clean windows) and drive on the freeway without even having to worry about losing your camera (at normal people speed, not 120mph). Sticks very well. There is a button you press down on when you position the suction cup, then you fold the clasp back. Very versatile and can tighten and loosen without tools. Top to learn more

Very handy, versatile mount
What is there to say - this thing is rock solid, pretty adjustable and lets you take your GoPro anywhere you need to take it.I've had this stuck inside my car, and outside. I even mounted it wrong (by mistake) - forgot to push the "sealing" button - and stuck it on the roof of my car at speeds up to 45mph, and it worked fine!Avoid using it in the cold though, at 30f, the rubber wasn't forming as great a seal as I'd expected - hardly the fault of the device though, just be aware.My only reduction in star is due to the proprietary GoPro mount. Great charger but better deal is waiting for you
This is a great charger but the same company (schumacher's battery maintainer), makes an identical product for sears, branded as diehard.It costs the same as on amazon but comes with a 3 year warranty, not the standard 1 yr. warranty found here. Plus you don't have to deal with shipping hassles when you can just go to your local sears and pick one up or exchange if you have problems. Top to learn more
Great maintainer
After having the battery on my "summer only" convertible goflat last winter I decided to invest in a battery maintainer.The Schumacher SEM-1652A was the best compromise of price (around$40 with shipping), features (a normal charging rate, and alower maintaining rate, with overcharge protection and indicatorlights), and small size (fits easily under the hood by themaster cylinder, battery wiring adaptor with quick connect makes installation and removal a snap. I'd add a few extra crimp-on terminals of various ring sizes to the kit,so different power connections with the wiring adaptor could be made(my car has the battery mounted in the front fender well, I had to getlarger ring terminals to go on the remote jump starting terminalsunder the hood.Update: I bought a wattmeter to measure the power use of a fridge ( seemed to be running more thannormal, we replaced it with an energy star rated model ) so I... Microprocessor Controlled Charging for 6 and 12 Volt Batteries
Microprocessor controlled charging and maintenance is simply the easiest way to keep batteries at optimal power levels. This convenience and speed is experienced from the moment that the SEM-1562A is connected. First, the unit utilizes the user's choice of either easy-to-connect and remove battery clips, or permanent ring terminals (both included), each of which allows for charging or maintaining of batteries whether they be in or out of vehicles. The SEM-1562A also features automatic voltage detection which allows it to automatically determine whether the connected cell is a 6-volt battery or a 12-volt variety. This eliminates the possibility of damaging a battery due to choosing the wrong charging settings. Once your battery type has been identifified, a multi-phase charging process kicks in which plays out via the unit's automatic Charge / Maintain modes. Tipped off by the data analyzed by the onboard microprocessor, your battery is supplied with a constant charge until it reaches a preset level - at which point charging ceases. Eventually, if the charge falls below a certain level the SEM-1562A automatically transitions into Maintain Mode, delivering a small, safe charge that will raise the battery's level back to where it should be.

In addition, because of the constant monitoring the battery, the SEM-1562A can react to charging needs swiftly, efficiently and accurately, allowing charging cycles to click on and off in the same way. Because of this, batteries can be left attached to the SEM-1562A indefinately for storage without the risk of overcharging and/or damage. Additional features include: automatic temperature compensation which adjusts the maximum charge voltage and maximum maintain voltage based on the ambient air temperature; thermal runaway, which automatically reduces the current if it detects the battery may be getting too hot; an auto-start feature that keeps power from flowing unless a proper connection exists, or in the case of a reverse hook-up; and a Desulphation mode for charging batteries left discharged for an extended period of time.

Don't use for deep cycle batteries
Bought this charger to charge/maintain my deep cycle battery used for emergency power outages. The manual included with this charger even describes it charging deep cycle batteries and gives a charging estimate of ~36hrs. Fine for what I'm looking for. The charger repeatedly aborted the charge on my brand-new battery. Their customer service tech said it wasn't meant to charge deep cycle batteries due to the higher internal resistance. This should have been made more clear in the packaging, labelling and product description. I've lost time and money. Now I have to go buy a 'real' charger...Update - The charger was actually DOA. I returned it and replaced the charger with a new one on an auto-shop recommendation. It is working fine. Schumacher didn't want to own up to a bum charger when I called them earlier. Why are banks so reluctant to make loans, even to highly qualified buyers, on go-fast boats. The bad news is that financing go-fast boats hasn’t gotten any easier on the consumer side. 5 percent, for them to finance a high-performance boat.
