Great flowing stream sound
There are both pros and cons to this product. It's made in China, as so many things are these days. The slate exterior looks like it could be a thin laminate. Its worn in several places, revealing a solid color underneath. The slate itself has little color, mostly tones of grey. But gently cleaning the exterior of the fountain with some mild sudsy water and a wash cloth did wonders for its appearance.Its a heavy, solid piece, built to last. The copper funnels look nice in contrast. The water flow actually sounds like a small stream. Its very soothing. And there's an "on-off" switch in the cord. There's no spashing whatsoever around the fountain.It would be nice if it came with a light, but it doesn't. I placed an amber colored submersible light in its base. Beautiful Modern Fountain
I love this little fountain! It's been going in our house 24/7 for over 2 months, and has worked fine.We keep it on the floor of our dining room, where the lovely water sound can be heard throughout the first floor of our house. The sound of the running water is very pleasant and relaxing. The water flow is good, and unlike some other fountains the water doesn't get "stuck" on a level but flows continuously through. The illumination is subtle and nice, brighter then a night light mostly because of the water reflections that play across the walls.The only down side I've found is that it isn't a 360 degree view fountain - the back isn't as attractive as the front, so you will want to keep the back against a wall. For the price, this wasn't a big deal to me.Overall, it's a great fountain for the money.Note: when you first get the fountain, it's important follow the instructions to wash both the fountain and the stones well before use. Durable, but with shortcomings.
I had this fountain for approximately 4 years, and it worked well that entire time. The motor never burnt out, and it never had any major operational problems. A few things to know:1. The bells rust. They will not be that nice brass color for long.2. The plastic bowl is even more plastic in person. It's a soft plastic, seeming cheap if you touch it or get too close. It will deform as you pick it up.3. The bells are loud. Personally, I had to muffle the bell sounds with cork.4. There will probably only be one or two of the internal bells that will actually get struck. By the nature of water flows, expect to hear the same bell over and over.5. The fountain needs to be cleaned regularly. While this might seem self-evident, gunk builds up quickly.6. Floating bells flip, get stuck, and otherwise need to be watched after every now and then.Overall, while I was slightly underwhelmed with certain details of implementation, I didn't...

Great addition to my yard
It was hard to tell from the photographs the actual proportions of the fountain, so I worried it would be too tiny for what I wanted. It isn't. It is absolutely beautiful and I absolutely LOVE it. The ceramics are well-made and the fountain works beautifully. Make sure the connection between the pump and the solar panel is firmly in place - I didn't initially and thought something might be wrong with it. Assembly is a breeze and it was up and going in no time. Heavy cloud cover blocks the sun from the solar panel and stops the flow, but nothing else has slowed it down. I knew that I wanted solar power to prevent having to use a power cord, so this was perfect for me. The panel doesn't store power (no battery assembly) so on overcast days it won't be running, but I am fine with that. The ability to avoid a cord was my primary goal. I didn't think to check about the battery/ability to store solar power. Even knowing that now, I would buy this fountain again without hesitation. The price...

Wonderful with caveats
When this little fountain works, it's beautiful and the water doesn't just make a trickling sound but tinkles as it splashes into each ceramic bowl - a really lovely set of sounds. I bought it to sit in our butterfly garden, where running a power cord would be difficult. Like other reviewers, I wish it had a battery to save up some of the solar energy, so it would run at other times than simply when the sun is shining on the solar panel. When I assembled the fountain, I had to bend some of the metal to make the pieces fit together. Also, when there's low water flow because the sun isn't fully shining, the water doesn't quite make it into each bowl, so I have to keep an eye on the big basin and make sure it has enough water in it.

Perfect for a desk or table top
I bought this as a gift, but knowing that these kinds of small fountains can be less than fulfilling, I decided to test it out first. It has enough weight to make it hard to accidentally knock over. Construction and initial quality is very good. Assembly was very easy and straightforward, though the pickup tube is a bit longer than necessary. It worked very well, with no splattering (a big concideration when using indoors). The pump is almost noiseless (another big concideration when using indoors) and the flow is adjustable. There is little or no water sound with the flow set fully open (I did not test it on any other setting). There were no recommendations on how much water to start with, so I experimented until I found that between 4 and 5 cups was plenty. Another missing recommendation was what type of water to use; I suggest filtered or distilled.

Happy Camper
This is a very clever product. I put it in a very large bird bath next to a goofy looking frog. When the sun hits the solar panel the lily pad sprinkles water. I love watching it and the only thing is I have to make sure there is enough water in the bird bath so the lily pad has enough water to spray.
