Dawn of War: Soulstorm DVD issues
Truly excellent RTS games. I give 5/5 even though there is a common DRM issue pertaining Dawn of War: Soulstorm. If you have any sort of DvD burning software on your computer (NERO) the game will not read in your drive. Still, first three parts are amazing.

All of the original Dawn of Wars in 1 pack
I have all the Dawn of Wars except soul storm and I believe this entire pack is a great deal. First you must consider if you bought the games individually its more expensive and its hard to keep up with all the CDs and their CD keys.If your new to Dawn of War its a great game it has very little in common with the new Dawn of War II. I enjoyed the original DoW I more because the armies are larger, and you more factions to choose from.I m going to give a short review and say that all these games overall get a 5/5 I believe Soul Storm is the only game that is really a 4/5 because it felt rushed, acting was hilariously bad at times (I still enjoy it), I have not played online and this is what I saw from the demo and people playing it.

Great Game, Great Price!
I recently purchased this game and I couldn't be happier. It all comes in one wide plastic case, the only complaint I could possibly have is that the game manuals are on the discs instead of hard copy.A must have for any RTS player, or WH40k Fiend

Defend the Imperium of Man
It is the distant future and the Imperium of Man has spread across the entire galaxy, but our days of expansion are long past. Once, when the Emperor lead in battle, and the Imperium was unstoppable. Those days are no more. The Emperor has withdrawn to Earth to rule from his Golden Throne, leaving a thousand wars of attrition in his name where defenders die by the billions. There is little hope for support from Earth and humanity is losing the battle for survival. The only chance lies with the Space Marines, genetically modified warriors of superhuman ability and the pinnacle of human potential. But the Space Marines are few, the galaxy is large and enemies are countless. The situation is most dire in sub-sector Aurelia. It is from this cluster of worlds on the very edge of the Imperium that came the Blood Ravens, a chapter of the Emperor's own Space Marines. Now savage aliens seek to overrun the sector, and break the Blood Ravens once and for all. Captain Davian Thule and a handful of Space Marines lead the raw recruits defending these worlds. Yet, another Space Marine prepares to join this desperate battle, a newly promoted commander, ready to lead in our darkest hour. You are this Space Marine.

Copy Protection Stinks, But At Least Doesn't Ruin This Game
Since it is the number one consideration I make in choosing if I'm going to buy a game, I have to talk about the copy protection. Yes it's not the game, but it is a part of the overall product. If you can't play the game, then it's of no use to you. Dawn of War 2 is more intrusive than the CD keys of the old days. Those keys were perfectly reasonable and fair, but nowadays I can't understand why companies punish their paying customers with annoying activations. I purchased and the protection couldn't recognize my CD drive so I couldn't use it; their response was tough luck. I have almost entirely stopped buying PC games because the protection adds risk. That said, the protection scheme that Relic went with is at least not as bad as it could be. You have to install Steam by Valve software and there is a CD Key...

New is not always good
Gaming hours on this game: 40+ hoursGood Replay modeSummary:I have purchased almost every dawn of war RTS. These games get you immersed into the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. I like that with these two installments more and more lore is getting put into the game making it much more realistic yet still science ficition. Unlike the other games your not allowed to build bases which for me is a dissapointment. I understand that it makes sense to have a mobile army for some of the factions like Space Marines but I didnt like that they focused less on building minature civilization and base defenses. I like the old version (Dawn of War, Dawn of War: Winter Assualt Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, ) of the games because its nice seeing the base explode and have the enemy suffer. In this version of the game your forced to either take cover in the enviroment or hide next to your HQ building which offers only 2 turrets. For that reason it makes defending your HQ nearly impossible...

Continue to Enjoy Dawn of War II with Retribution
AS noted in another review, the campaign is short, but you can play it with 6 races. The "Last Stand" mode is not for novices. You should be familiar with the DoW "Last Stand" scenarios and have some virtual "combat" time under your belt with other DoW series games before playing (not required, but it is a steep learning curve for those without experience). If you want tips for Last Stand, use "Steam News" and it notes best heros with specific equipment that have been successful. Don't bother using Amazon's downloader for this game. Tried for a whole day to download 8GB... left it overnight and the download continues to get interrupted. Finally, was so frustrated, I logged on to "Steam" and used the game validation code (from Amazon) - it finished the entire download in an hour. Amazon has to do better with their downloader. Hope these notes are helpful.

Not a Bad Expansion
The second expansion to "Dawn of War 2", Retribution offers a new faction and a new campaign. It's more of the same, but that's hardly a bad thing. The main new feature in "Retribution" is the addition of the Imperial Guard faction. Unlike their elite counterparts, the Space Marines, the IG relies on massive numbers and vehicle support to get the job done. There's a lot of concepts brought over from Dawn of War 1 and the tabletop game, but they don't really seem to fit as well. DoW2 has a much tighter squad focus with more enclosed maps, so the IG's traditional tactics don't seem to fit as well as they used to.Still, there's some interesting potential. The basic IG unit is the guardsman squad, which focuses on improving its numbers rather than making soldiers more effective. Other guardsmen units include the stealth-based Catachan Devils, the specialized Stormtroopers, and the brutish Ogryn. Their heroes show the most diversity - the Inquisitor is focused on...

A review kinda like I like to read...
The kind of review I like to read tends to be full of all sorts of info on new units and how they do in the game. I guess we will find out if anyone agrees. So far in my Dark Crusade career I have beaten the game with the new T'au race and the Space Marines. This is what I have learned.First the new style of campaign play. Many have equated it to the board game Risk not unreasonably. But it's both simpler and more complex. The "board" is the planet of Kronus blocked into about 15 "provinces," each with a unique property/special ability. However, unlike Risk, the only unit that moves is your commander. And although some provinces provide units you can buy to take in with the commander for each attack/defense, essentially each time you attack a province it is a skirmish game. You must destroy the other's command building to win.Pros: Because of this style, players can actually pick which race they want to fight against and how hard it is likely...

Dawn of War just got even better!
Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War Dark Crusade offers a chance for new players to jump into Dawn of War at the bargain price of $30 or less, as the original Dawn of War (DoW) is not required to play the Dark Crusade expansion. For existing DoW players, the new content should make the purchase of this latest expansion well worth the time and money.First, the new single-player campaigns are not just linear stories as in the original DoW or Winter Assault (WA). Instead, players get to play with the two new races, Tau and Necrons, and they get to run the campaign and conquer an alien world in a strategy game similar to Risk. Players will be able to play using any one of the game's seven races. Even better, the storyline will be different depending upon which race is played. For multi-player fans, players will be able to customize their commanders with special equipment, referred to as "wargear" in the tabletop version of Warhammer 40,000 (aka 40K). Skirmish mode will still be...

Ninjas on Fire
Bungie software famously said of Halo 2 that: "it's Halo 1 on fire going 120 miles per hour through a hospital zone chased by helicopters and ninjas. And the ninjas are all on fire too." As a sequel, Halo 2 couldn't quite live up to that extravagant claim, but DoW: Dark Crusade does.I played the original DoW to death, so my astonishment threshold was pretty high. Nevertheless, this game met and exceeded it. Relic has taken the original game and transplanted it into a totally new environment, but all of the new elements blend seamlessly. The new strategic mode is reminiscent of the board game Risk, and involves capturing territories on a world map.The best part of this is the fact that the armies and structures garrisoned on these territories persist (to a large extent, anyway) from battle to battle. This means that the first-mover advantage/inertia factor that made the first two games so interesting has been exported into the strategic mode. Advantages...

Fix for Defective game being shipped by Amazon
Amazon is *still* shipping defective copies of this game (I got it for Xmas and was attempting to install it today). However, a quick google found a solution to the problem if you buy this game from Amazon and receive the misprinted installation key which will prevent you from even installing it:Enter the first two sets of numbers from the key on the manual, then '0000' in the third input field, then the next two sets of numbers from your key.Worked like a charm.

Great game and a tremendous value too. Definite 5 stars. All the people who are rating this game poorly due to the key issue need to read this:Enter the first two sets of numbers from the key on the manual, then '0000' in the third input field, then the next two sets of numbers from your key.I found this in under 5 minutes using a tool called "Google" and it has been posted in other reviews here. It is absolutely poor style to assign the game a bad rating because of an issue that can easily be rectified with a simple search. Is it a stupid mistake on the part of THQ? Absolutely. But it doesn't make it a suck game./soapbox
