Wilton Chocolate Fountain Pro
I was very worried after reading all the reviews on every Chocolate Fountain out there. The ones that had decent reviews seemed awfully pricey for a kitchen item that, honestly, is less functional and more novelty. The less expensive ones had widely variable ratings.I decided to take a chance and order the Wilton Pro, despite some of the negative ratings. The base is fairly hefty and the bottom bowl is solid and attached to the base. It is lined with metal and when on 'Preheat' mode, heats up without turning the auger and circulating the chocolate. The three tiers over which the chocolate cascades are made of heavy-duty plastic and locks together but comes apart for cleaning. You can pretty much dissemble the three tiers and the auger that runs up the middle, and after any big chunks of chocolate have been removed, soak in hot water or put in the dishwasher and the cleanup is exceptionally easy. The most difficult part of the fountain to clean is the base...

Great & easy to use product!
A friend recommended the Wilton fountain to me as I was told it was the most user friendly and reliable fountain on the market. I used it for a party last week and it was a hit. I was really nervous at first never using anything like this before, but I followed the instructions and the chocolate turned out exactly like how it looked in the picture. I highly recommend purchasing the actual Wilton brand chocolate melts. You do not have to add any oil, just melt and pour into the fountain. The chocolate tasted fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this product as I had a great experience.

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory BLU-RAY
I won't bore you with yet another "review" of this film or my personal opinion of it. You want to know what I think of the BD version, right? My short answer: This BD looks and sounds so good that I've already given away my DVD of it.The Blu-ray Disc of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory is the best I have ever seen of the film. Image quality is sharp & clean and the colors stand out like candy. The DolbyTrueHD sound is excellent allowing all the dialogue and songs to come through crystal-clear.This BD case is like a book with many pages for the fans. My ONLY (small) regret is that the back cover containing all the BD information is not printed on the book, and instead is merely a printed page that eventually comes loose and detaches after a short while (whereas my "Easy Rider" BD is the same type of book and the information is printed on the back cover - much better!).If you like (or love) this movie and are wondering if the BD is worth...

One of the all-time classics in a must-own DVD
The 30th Anniversary Edition of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was originally botched as a fullscreen-only effort. However, Warner listened to the people and gave them a wonderful widescreen transfer. Colors are vibrant, the 5.1 Dolby Digital track is very nice, and there are a handful of cool extras. There is the 30-minute documentary "Pure Imagination" which shows some of the cast today, including all the children and Gene Wilder himself. The interviews of the cast looking back at the movie which was the defining thing for so many of them is very interesting. The documentary on the whole is rather fulfilling. While one feels that the documentary could have delved deeper and maybe been an hour-long, at a brisk 30 minutes, the pacing seems okay and it won't leave you wanting too much more. There is a limited amount of archival on-set "B" roll footage, but all that is there is interesting. Also included is the original theatrical trailer (Warner left...

Oompa-Loompa, doopity do, I've got another puzzle for you!
WOW, I can't believe how long ago this film was made and how wonderful it is even today! It really doesn't seem like it's from 1971. I have probably seen this film over 500 times by now, since the 80's and I still am not the least bit bored of it. At 28 years old, I still totally love this film!!! The characters, especially Gene Wilder who plays Willy Wonka, who is THE Willy Wonka, who could never be topped EVER (yes I've seen the 2005 film!), the music, the setting, the songs, and especially the Oompa-Loompa's! Everything in this film is so wonderfully done and everyone who hasn't seen it yet, needs to as soon as possible!!My favorite place or scene in the whole film has to be the big candy and chocolate room where Willy Wonka sings "Pure Imagination." Not only for the song but because I can see how much work the director put into this film. All the candy and chocolate looks so real and alive and the whole room looks so beautiful the way everything is set up! I...

The Deluxe edition, Soul Brother... ****1/2
I once made the comment that most of the entertainment today is in very bad shape. The industries are trying to relive past glories, especially music and movies. Most of the money being made in the music industry is reissues, HDCD releases of well-known titles, delux reissues, legacy reissues, offical releases of bootlegs, greatest hits, and any and all repackaging of classic albums. And they all use well known, classic, big name artists, because they know people will buy it. Because the majority of new CDs, and new artists aren't of any real quality, they have to rely on the old stuff to make money. The same can be said of the movies. It's all sequels, prequels, remakes, and remodels.Accordingly, I was not thrilled when I heard a new version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was coming out. When I learned it was a Tim Burton/Danny Elfman/Johnny Depp production, I was less skeptical. When I saw a trailer, I was interested. When I heard Danny Elfman was...

Perfect Adaptation!
First off, yes, I am a fan of Tim Burton. I even own every one of his movies on DVD (though one or two of them I could live without). But that's not the point. The fact is, I respect his vision as an artist; and his ability to create such surrealistic worlds that are both weird and wonderful are just enough why I idolize him.Okay, now, some of you may wonder, if this is a direct remake of the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory that starred Gene Wilder. Actually, no, even though it's the same story concept. The only difference is that this film pays more homage to the book (MUCH more homage) and is (of course) AMAZING to look at. The storyline now, is simple enough (because I'm under the impression that a lot of people have seen the original film): Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore) is a boy from an impoverished family living under the shadow of a giant chocolate factory, who eventually wins a candy bar contest and is given a tour, along with four other...

3.5 Stars , and I am (pleasantly) Surprised , Except For the Wounded Child Thing
I'm the first person I know who would completely go against Hollywood for remaking what is, in my eyes, a classic. I've always been vehemently opposed to remade classics such as 'Planet of the Apes', "Psycho', and the list goes on, with Hollywood taking some perfectly wonderful classics and simply ruining them in the name of more money and a lack of original ideas.Yet with a remake and rename to 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory',I was pleasantly surprised for two reasons:1) The original grasped at some potentially high-tech-like and creepy scenes that would've looked much better with good technology, which, at the time, was unavailable (creepy boat scene in the chocolate waters, the TV Room scene with the little boy who shrunk, the glass elevator ...or, respectively, Wonkivator. These scenes looked great in the remake - when good movie-making technology remakes a classic that didn't yet have the equipment, it makes it look good, and in this case, looks DO stand to...

On it's own merits...
I didn't want the movie to be bad. I love Tim Burton and think Johnny Depp is the riskiest actor we have an screen. I also loved the original movie for it's own merits, and at it's first viewing thought Gene Wilder was a genius. Can these two movies exist on their own merits...certainly I think they should. The origina; had it's flaws...the musical numbers had high points(Candy Man, my Imagination...and the oompa loompa songs) and low points(Cheer up Charlie)...the look is pretty dated. The new version has it's weirdnesses as well. But is it a watchable movie on it's own merits??? Absolutely. If you want Wilder, rent it. No one is taking away your nostalgia by putting another slant on it. I feel the movie was very funny, certainly no more sick and twisted than the source it was created from. In fact, the tone of the movie, especially at the beginning, is very Dahlish. There are diversions, Dahl himself wrote the first screenplay and managed to divert it...

A very sweet treat
The new version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory represents exactly what the audience should expect from a Tim Burton film: exuberant sets that challenge all possible camera angles and show a kitsch quality; weird supporting characters that prove to be a critic and piercing look at the American suburban world, Danny Elfman's exquisite music and as a cherry top, the presence of Johnny Depp, in his fifth collaboration with Burton. The original 1971 film had a clear anchor in the pop visual look of the times; Burton's film evokes some 60's pictures in his art direction, photography and in the sweet innocence quality that all movies lack in the present. Without a doubt, the production design, art direction, costumes and sets are worthy of an Oscar; as well as Elfman's score, who added music to the verses written by Ronald Dahl, the author of the book.Likewise, we should speak of Johnny Depp's performance for his extraordinary creation of Wonka. Compared to Gene...

It hasn't GOT a point - that's why it's CANDY
You just need to get the old version of the movie out of your head before you see this, and approach it with an open mind. It's not really a musical, and it's not exclusively a kid's movie. But to my mind it's the best movie Tim Burton ever made, and considerably increased my assessment of Johnny Depp, whom you will find weird if you were hoping for Gene Wilder and wonderful if you were hoping for the actual Willy Wonka as written by the original author, Roald Dahl.I had the strange experience of seeing Johnny Depp in "Finding Neverland" and two days later in "Chocolate Factory." Johnny's turn as Willy Wonka is the strangest, weirdest, and most engaging performance of any kind I've seen in years. It's what Jim Carrey in "Unfortunate Events" couldn't be: interesting, complex, and subtle. It makes the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" not only the best movie of the summer but one that will be worth owning and rewatching time and again.More importantly,...

Entertaining
BETTER THAN CHOCOLATE is a must see movie in my opinion. It centers around Maggie, and her family and friends. Maggie is a lesbian living away from home, and her mom and brother. One night after almost being attacked, she encounters Kim. A few days later she runs into Kim again and they fall for each other. It was very sudden how they got together, within a few weeks saying that they were in love. Maggie's mother Lily and her brother come and live with Maggie, which creates a problem for her. Maggie is not out to her mother and wants to live her life and still maintain to keep her sexuality a secret. She works in a bookstore with Francis and Carla, and their transgendered friend Judy is often around. The story is enriched because it involves many stories which fold together. Lily redefining herself and discovering herself again, Judy finding love with long time crush Frances, Maggie's brother beginning a relationship with Carla, and more. One of the subplots centers around censorship,...

Screwball romance meets '90's lesbian chic
This movie will seem very familiar to most long-time movie watchers as it is in many ways a remake of the vintage screwball comedies of the early '30's but with a decidedly '90's twist. The heroine of the film is Maggie, a young woman who has dropped out of university to try and find herself as an artist. She also supplements her income from painting by working at a bookstore which serves the LesBiGayT (Lesbian-Bisexual-Gay-Transsexual) community of a small British Columbian town.Maggie's life is greatly complicated when, on the same day, she begins to fall in love with an itinerant painter named Kim, and she receives word that her mother and teenage brother are going to be coming to town to stay with her. This is particularly problematic because Maggie hasn't disclosed her sexual orientation to her family.A certain amount of predictable hijinks ensue as Maggie tries to keep her family from deducing the truth about her relationship with Kim. She also, of course,...

No Surprises Here...
There's no shortage of mediocre gay/lesbian movies out these days, in which we follow the trials and tribulations of a group of friends (gay, lesbian, maybe an occasional trans) as they fall in and out of love and do a lot of dancing. "Better than Chocolate" is another one of those movies and it's okay for what it is, but I can't help wishing these movies would aim just a little bit higher. As with most films in this genre, there's the central love story, here a sort of instant-fall-in-love scenario between two women, both of whom are essentially nice, attractive, etc. The "character flaw" of one is that she lives on the road and always leaves when the going gets tough; the other one's "flaw" is that she hasn't told her mother that she's gay, yet, and hasn't really committed to her identity as a lesbian. So, they fall in love, the mother comes to stay with her daughter, hijinks ensue. There are a few subplots tossed in, the most interesting of which centers around the one...
