The Willett family's long distilling history began in France in brandy production. They brought their expertise to the American Colonies in the early 1600s, eventually settling in Bardstown, Kentucky. Here, they were involved in the founding of several renowned bourbon distilleries. Willett Single Barrel Estate Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is handmade from carefully selected grains, proprietary yeast, and distinctive limestone spring water. After distillation, the spirit is aged in white oak casks until it reaches peak maturity. This is based on expert barrel sampling, not an arbitrary age. This is an excellent sipping whiskey with layer upon layer of aroma and flavor. Subtle yet assertive, it displays notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted coconut, brown sugar, honey, tangerine, baking spices, cedar, and a hint of fresh herbs. Hilarious, History and great humor...Plus I learned a lot...
Bernie is too funny. I have seen him at industry events numerous times and I always learn something new. This book puts it all in place while at the same time it is full of great humor. I was reading it on my flight the other day and actually laughed out loud so many times that the person next to me had to ask me "What are you reading..."Bernie has put together the most informative book on bourbon and did it in a way that made you not want to put the book down. It is a great reference tool as well. The charts of history are great and the label reading tool will help me make better choices at my local liquor store. The best part was the fact that he included his famous "Urban Bourbon Trail" with all the great local hangouts in Louisville.Just a great book I will read many times.... I will be the most informed bourbon drinker at my next cocktail party.Cheers!

Outstanding!
Bernie has penned the most entertaining and informative book in the industry. If you like bourbon it's a must read. If you have yet to experience the wonderful world of bourbon you will enjoy Bernie's entertaining style and storytelling. Mix a little US history, with equal parts comedy and equal parts information and you have the perfect cocktail of a book. The only improvement would be is that it should come with a glass of Knob Creek...

Entertaining Read!
I loved the book, found it to be educational as well as entertaining. The itinerary for the Bourbon Trail and the UrbanBourbon Trail as well as section on having your own Home Bourbon Tasting is functional and fabulous. I love single malt whisky & US bourbon. I was somewhat skeptical that this glass would greatly improve my enjoyment but I'm now a believer! The glass truly does allow you to pick out the subtle nuances more precisely. If you're spending $50 and more on single malt scotch, why would you want to miss out on the nuances of each?The design of this glass is based on the traditional "nosing" glass used by master whisky blenders. The pinched waist holds the aroma and the tapering neck directs the bouquet up to your nose. The smaller opening keeps the air in the room from confusing your senses so you get a more precise "nose". A traditional nosing glass has no cuts in the glass or other decoration because it would distort the color of the whisky.The Glencairn glass was originally designed for pub/bar use so it is a sturdy little glass. Good quality, nice heft
A nice glass to enjoy your whiskey of choice. It looks nice on your bar and the set is perfect for enjoying something nice w/ friends.They have a good heft and even with my friend's rough use no problems. Not fragile, but not idiot-proof either. Haven't broken one yet. The shape really does seem to help focus aroma. Found these after another Canadian whisky set w/ a large maple leaf on the bottom (chose not to get those because of the leaf).After about 2-3 months use, i am seeing the bottom lettering be a little less distinct. Looks etched and the outside edge is the bottom contact of the glass - so i expect they will eventually wear smooth. No biggie but be aware.Nice glasses - definitely recommend the set.

Nice glasses, poor packaging
"Stolzle Glencairn Whiskey Glass Boxed" would imply that the items would come in a box. I ordered 3 glasses, one came in a box and the other two were wrapped in bubble wrap. Now I have to figure out how to wrap these as presents and provide the recipients with the product description so they know what the glass is and why it is special enough to be given as a gift. The glasses seem nice enough and I am sure the design is appropriate for whiskey, I just wish they had come packaged better.

Lithe and balanced, Woodford is a polished sophisticated bourbon.
Woodford Reserve has a cult following and it's easy to understand why: it has a lean, semi-dry, aspect that emphasizes herbal and botanical notes and downplays the resiny fruity "candy corn"'aspect one often finds in bourbons. It is sophisticated and grown up hooch for more discriminating palates.Woodford is a lovely medium amber color - darker than Makers or Beam but lighter than lighter than, say Kentucky Spirit or Craig 18. It's lovely. Nose is full of toffee walnut and tobacco. There's some leather and cream too. First sip opens bright with honeyed corn. Vanilla notes from oak arrive shortly and the midpalate blooms with herbal and floral aspects that mute the sweetness combined with the leather and tobacco meets toffee aspect. You’ll drive right through Bardstown when you go to visit Heaven Hill, Thomas Moore, Independent Stave Cooperage, or Maker’s Mark, so you might as well stop off and get some great bourbons you can only find here in the Bourbon Capital of the World. ) and it’s a small ‘lil store in downtown Bardstown that is just chocked FULL of bourbon…as well it should being in the bourbon capital of the world. He’s got a great bourbon spread, and you’ll find some great bourbons you can only get here in Kentucky. These next stores are larger stores with bigger bourbon spreads. Morris’ Deli there has some of the best country ham sandwiches, so make a lunch date of it. It’s a small store too, but have a decent bourbon selection, and it’s close to downtown hotels. Gordo owns the place, and he’s known for his wine selection, but he carries a nice bourbon selection there too. You’ll just get a kick out of just how BIG the bourbon spreads are in the stores. Baker runs this store and he’s a bourbon nut. So you’re in Kentucky visiting distilleries, and you’d like to go purchase some bourbon to take back with you. And don’t forget to visit Bardstown during Bourbon Festival which is always the third weekend in September. 4446 – Jerry Rogers owns the place, and he’s a wine guy from way back, but loves his bourbon. Obviously, I grabbed it. The Eagle Rare 10 Year Old Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey comes in at 90 proof, has been aged for 10 years, and comes from a single barrel. After talking to Spencer while he was writing his fuzzy recap of the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival in Atlanta , the Eagle Rare had made it to the top of my list of bourbons to try. It’s a great buy, and I highly recommend it. . This Eagle Rare is a GREAT value. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. I was so pleased with the Eagle Rare 10 Year that I would say it compares to bourbons twice its price. I don’t always stumble onto bourbons from the Buffalo Trace Distillery (call it bad luck), but when I do, I buy. This past weekend, as I was deciding between restocking the Four Roses or Buffalo Trace, I ran into a bottle of Eagle Rare 10 Year Old. Eagle Rare 10 Year Old has a delicious scent.
