Product Description
When it comes to digestifs, I typically look for Italian amaro liqueurs or fernets (which are usually heavier, dryer, and more heavily herbal) like Fernet Branca. However, this brilliant spirit from the Czech Republic has a permanent spot on my bar.
If you were to compare it to something, its probably most similar to Fernet Branca--herbal, anise-y, a little medicinal. But it has a lot more spice to it--especially cinnamon and carmamom. I dig it. Its a pretty good sipper on ice after a massive meal, but its also dandy with a bit of tonic and lemon.
My favorite use of the spirit though is a cocktail called The Metamorphosis that was developed by a wonderful Boston restaurant called Eastern Standard. If you are EVER in Boston, you should stop in and get one. Get the steak tartare and local Duxbury oysters too while youre at it!
Or you can check out the recipe below!. The Metamorphosis
2 oz. Becherovka
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 oz. clover honey syrup (heat equal parts clover honey and water on the stove to create a thin syrup)
Combine ingredients in ice-filled shaker. Shake, strain into glass and garnish with a twist. Liquor Top to learn more
