Well thought out and well executed design
This is the set you want. Why? Here are some reasons. Some are about Stainless steel cookware in general, but all apply specifically to this set.o Stainless steel is sanitary. You can get them perfectly clean very easily. (Commercial food processors are often required to use stainless steel for nearly everything that comes in contact with food.)o Stainless steel cleans up nearly as easily non-stick cookware. You do clean it differently, however.o These pans have an aluminum core wrapped on both sides by stainless steel. Stainless steel does not transmit heat quickly but aluminum does. Aluminum is soft and dents easily, stainless steel is hard and strong. This means you get the toughness of stainless steel with the even heat distribution of aluminum.o Even heat distribution and rapid heating allows you use lower heat setting thus saving energy and reducing the chance of burning food.o Handles stay fairly cool,... You can pay more, but you can't buy better!
For those of you considering upgrading your cookware to professional grade stainless steel, look no further.I've owned this 12 piece set for over a year, and can't offer enough praise. It still looks brand new (use Barkeepers Friend to clean it). It heats evenly and quickly, retains heat for a long time, sears and browns well without burning, handles comfortably, cleans up easily and looks great! I'm fortunate enough to have several different types of cookware to compare. My cookware includes: All-Clad, JC Penny Elite (5 ply Copper Core), Chefmate tri-ply, Hard Anodized non-stick and Cuisinart Tri-Ply Copper. In my opinion, the All-Clad Stainless Steel line is much overated. Its great cookware, but has no rolled edges for easy pouring without making a mess, and I prefer the handles on just about any other brand. All-Clad's materials and construction are the same as the other premium lines, with the exception of the rolled edges. Incidentally, staunch... Top to learn more
Ah, the joy of cooking...
...with the right pot. When I was checking into buying more high-quality cookware a few years ago, I was totally sold on AllClad, but then a friend of mine whose job at the time was to test kitchen cookware (if you can believe that!) told me I should check out Cuisinart's MultiClad line instead. Turns out it's had the same features (and add-ons) as the AllClad I was so in love with (stainless steel wrapped around an aluminum core), but without the major price tag that comes with the "AllClad" name.So I got the Cuisinart line and absolutely have loved it ever since - I've even been adding to my collection every year or so.As far as comparing it to nonstick cookware...well, I still have some nonstick pieces, but I don't use them much - a little bit of Pam Cooking Spray, and I haven't had any trouble. It also comes with great cleaning instructions...in fact, mine still look almost new even though they're a few years old.----------... Top to learn more

All-Clad Stainless Professional Universal Steamer - A+
This is a superb large steamer insert. It is great for large quantities of veggies or whatever you would like to steam. There is nothing like the flavor of freshly steamed veggies! It fits perfectly in the 6, 8, and 12 quart stock pots. I have only used it in the 6 and 8 quart stock pots myself. It is made very well and is excellent quality built to last. All Clad truly is lifetime cookware, I am sure you will not be disappointed. And it is backed by a lifetime warranty, what more can you ask for? Highly recommended! A+!

It's a Steamer Insert - One Works Incredibly Well
As All-Clad will inform you, this steamer works with 6, 8 or 12 quart stockpots. I use it with my 8-quart copper-core stockpot. (It still looks more like a Dutch Oven to me). The fit between the pot and the steamer is perfect. Nothing wiggles, jiggles or does not stay in quite right unlike so many `universal' steamers on the market. Its large size allows you to steam six artichokes, while its uniformity of heat allows cooking asparagus for two. Clean up is a snap - throw it in the dishwasher or simply rinse it out by hand. The clearance between the steamer and the bottom of the pot allows for more than enough water to steam for well over an hour. The downside is that it is expensive, but isn't all All-Clad? The upside is that like the rest of the All-Clad line you will buy once and be done.

love this, but a few considerations in pairing with a pan.
I have the 6 qt All Clad 11 inch diameter pot, and I ordered this to steam vegetables with it. The combo doesn't work well at all. I think it's because the steamer insert is so big and deep (which I wanted - I steam a lot of veggies) that there is barely any room between the surface of the steam water and the bottom of the steamer insert. If I keep the water really low so that the veggies will cook faster, then I'm constantly boiling off all the water and burning the pan. And if I fill it up more so it lasts the entire steam time, it makes the process take forever. The other night it took literally 30 minutes to steam some collard greens, and I'd had it. My other tiny pot with small steamer insert could steam this up in minutes, but I couldn't fit all the leaves in there and would end up doing them in batches, so either way was a hassle.I ended up going out to a retail store and bringing the steamer insert with me. The 8 qt All Clad pot looked much more promising,...

Attractively designed and incredibly tough, this steamer insert is constructed of stainless steel and fits nicely into an 11 inch diameter stock pot. The two looped handles are riveted to the side of the pan for additional durability, and are of a stay cool design to prevent burns.

Suitable for use with any 11-inch-diameter pot or pan, this beautiful, heavy, durable steamer insert holds about 6 quarts of vegetables for steaming over simmering water. Specifically, it fits into the 6-, 8-, and 12-quart stockpots in All-Clad's cookware collections. The exterior is mirror finish and the interior is highly polished so it's naturally stick-resistant. Polished 18/10 stainless-steel handles are riveted for strength and stay cool on the stovetop. Although the steamer is dishwasher-safe, hand washing is recommended. My favorite stock pot
This is my favorite stockpot. The copper makes it the most even heating stock pot I have ever used. It holds heat well, so it doesn't loose heat as fast as an aluminum or aluminum core pot does -- which can have trouble when frying because the aluminum cools quickly. It works great for deep frying, oven roasting, making all types of soups, stews, stocks, etc.It is pricey, but really does work better for me than the less expensive aluminum core models. A Real Step Up From Calpalon
This pot was purchased as a replacement for a 25-year-old Calphalon classic anodized aluminum stock pot of the same size that had always performed satisfactorily (it had just gotten ratty-looking and, frankly, I wanted to treat myself). I cook a lot of soups, stews, and one pot meals and so I use a pot of this size regularly. I am thoroughly impressed at its superior performance characteristics. It heats very evenly and I can saute vegetables much longer before I have a problem with them burning. The pot is easy to clean and I have been putting it in the dishwasher will no ill effect. The only down side to this pot is the price, but I expect it to last for at least the 25 years that my Calphalon pot did, so it will pay for itself over time. Top to learn more

Product Description
All Clad is known for its superb quality in cookware and this 8-qt. stockpot demonstrates why. It combines the excellent heat conductivity of copper with the easy maintenance and beauty of stainless steel. It simmers soups and stocks, and is ideal for braising food on the stovetop or in the oven under its polished lid. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly. The polished, 18/10 stainless-steel lid and stay-cool loop handles are riveted for strength and won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. Handwash, as dishwasher-use will deteriorate the pan's exterior beauty. Top to learn more
The ultimate in beautiful, high-performance cookware, All-Clad's innovative Copper Core collection combines the unexcelled heat conductivity of copper with the easy maintenance of stainless steel. Crafted in a unique five-ply construction, the cookware contains a core of pure copper that spreads heat quickly and evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. Aluminum layers bond the copper to a stainless-steel exterior and interior. Adding a Wow! factor, the copper core shows up in an elegant stripe encircling the gleaming, mirror-finish exterior. The interior is highly polished, so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. The rolled edges on the pots and pans help prevent drips during pouring and ensure tight-fitting lids.
This beautiful 8-quart stockpot offers convincing evidence of why All-Clad earns an unsurpassed worldwide reputation. Though not classically tall and narrow, it simmers soups and stocks and accommodates enough ragu Bolognese to feed all the relatives. And it's ideal for braising food on the stovetop or in the oven under its polished lid. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly, even though the pot is 5-1/4 inches deep (10-1/2 inches in diameter). And because the interior is nonreactive, the taste of tomatoes and other acidic foods won't be metallic. Its polished, 18/10 stainless-steel lid and stay-cool loop handles are riveted for strength and won't be harmed by an oven's highest heat. Even better than the 6 quart!
When purchasing our original All-Clad cookware, we explicitly went for the 6-qt Dutch oven/stockpot, since we are a family of two. While the 6-qt has served us well for several years, I discovered I'd need the slightly greater volume when making some fruit preserves this summer. So I bought the 8-qt. It's been a joy to own and use. Unlike the 6-qt, whose handles get a mite warm after long stove-top cooking, the 8-qt handles rarely get hot, even after cooking on a gas range for a couple of hours. I don't regret our original purchase decision, but I do like the 8-qt version a bit better than the 6-qt now. Top to learn more

A Co-Dependent Relationship
I'm unnaturally dependent on my All Clad 8 quart -- so much so that I bought a second. Soup cooks like a dream in it, and it's great for making stock -- wide enough to brown the chicken and onions before adding the water. Unlike my old cruddy Revereware, you don't get great globs of stuck stuff on the sides that forces you to lose arm muscle scrubbing it off. Cleaning is easy with All Clad-- a must for someone without a dishwasher. Will this addiction ever cease??!!! Top to learn more

All-Clad Stainless 8-Quart Stockpot
Both the 6 and 8 quart stockpots are must haves for your All Clad cookware collection. The 6 is great for sauce, a pound of lasagna or rigatoni, soup or stew and the 8 quart is a must have for my favorite meatballs that I cook in my sauce with sausage and steak. At first I didn't think I would need both but now that I do I can imagine doing all the Italian cooking that I do with out them. I can get my sauce and meatballs cooking in the 8 quart and start boiling lasagna noodles in the 6 quart. I love them both. These pans are made very well, heat evenly, are very easy to clean and are designed to last. All Clad cookware is one of the most expensive lines around and it is worth every penny, it really is lifetime cookware (backed by a lifetime warranty). This pan is a definite must have. Very, very highly recommended! A+++!... Top to learn more

To get rid of stuck-on food or discoloration and stains from using too high of a heat, we recommend cleaning your All-Clad with a product called Bar Keeper’s Friend. This can be used on the interior, as well as the exterior of your All-Clad (excluding the Cop-R-Chef). The Bar Keeper’s Friend can also be used on the exterior of the All-Clad Stainless collection, LTD collection, and MC2 collection. For cleaning of the Cop-R-Chef exterior, simply use a brass/copper cleaner. If your water has a high iron content, you may notice a rusty discoloration. Use Bar Keeper’s Friend to remove it.

Excellent Stock Pot and Amazing Value!
Ok, this is obviously not the same as the traditional All Clad stock pots, if it was it would be more then triple the price of this one without the 2 inserts. It is part of the disk bottom collection, however it is still top quality stainless steel and very well made. I certainly would not consider it secondary. It is a little lighter in weight than the traditional All Clad but it is not a light weight pot by any means. It is great for pasta, soup, stew, steaming veggies, etc. You will love it and you can't beat the price. It is very easy to clean and the inserts can be stacked and stored inside. A+Tip: If you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive. Top to learn more

Great value but a different kind of All-Clad
This is an incredible value, considering you get the lid, the pot, and the two baskets at a great price. It performs very well and is a welcome addition to an All-Clad set. However, it is not the same quality as the rest of my All-Clad's. As an example, the lid is made of the same type of steel as my other lids, however, it is thinner. Top to learn more

Don't be fooled!
This is a good product, but not what I was expecting when I ordered it. Don't be fooled, this stockpot is not from the regular line of Stainless products by All-Clad. It's from a lesser-quality line of products. The walls are thinner and it just seems to be of less overall quality than the regular All-Clad products (which are fantastic in my opinion!) Mounted on the bottom of the pan is another piece of metal for conduction (totally unlike regular All-Clad, but just like Emerilware). For the price it is a good product, but if you want true All-Clad quality hold out for the more expensive version. Top to learn more

Magic Kettle
I nearly did not purchase this dutch oven because the base is only 10 in. in diameter and I was concerned that browning large items or large quantities would be difficult or time consuming. But there is something magical about this pot. Because of its shape, the interior browning surface is much larger than the exterior base would indicate. It is no problem to brown a 5 pound chicken on top of my stove and then cover it and put it in the oven for slow roasting (300 degrees) a delicious french style roasted chicken. Yes, this pot is terribly expensive, and since I do not have the all-clad short 8 qt. stock pot which has been given top rating as a stainless steel dutch oven by Cooks Illustrated, I could not say that this pot is superior. The stainless steel all-clad short 8 qt. stock pot is much less expensive. However, I am delighted with the shape of this pot and its performance. I treasure every one of my all-clad pots. I specially treasure this one and the incredible slow... Top to learn more

Wonderful pot
Most of my collection is All Clad and Le Creuset and this pot is absolutely the best that I have cooked with. It's shape is so elegant, the size is perfect and for it's size it is delicately shaped. It is just a pleasure to use. I rate this an easy 5 stars for it's quality and characteristics, if I put the price factor into it, I would dock it a star because the price is outrageous, I will not tell anyone what it cost. The best of the best, All-Clad Copper Core!!!
I too hesitated at the $500.00 price tag on this Dutch Oven. But after my husband, a Mechanical Engineer, read about the way the Dutch oven was constructed he said this pot has the very best of everything and will be amazing to cook with (He was so right!)! He explained to me how each metal in the pot worked, heated and distributed heat. The copper goes up the sides and is not just on the bottom as does the aluminum with the benefit of the durable stainless steel!! The engineering that went into this pot was the very best and the results are the very best!!! I tried the chicken recipe that one of the other reviewers suggested about browning the chicken and then slow roasting it for 3 hours.......O-MY-GOSH was that fantastic!!! I am so excited about this Dutch oven that my mission is now to buy the entire line of the 'All-Clad Copper Core'!! If I could give it 10 stars I would!!! Buy this pot and you'll ditch all of your others!! Top to learn more

The ultimate in beautiful, high-performance cookware, All-Clad's innovative Copper Core collection combines the unexcelled heat conductivity of copper with the easy maintenance of stainless steel. Crafted of a unique five-ply construction, the cookware contains a core of pure copper that spreads heat quickly and evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. Aluminum layers bond the copper to a stainless-steel exterior and a stainless-steel interior. Enhancing the cookware's appearance, a stripe of the copper core elegantly encircles the gleaming, mirror-finish exterior. The interior is highly polished so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. Rolled edges on the pots and pans help prevent drips during pouring and ensure tight-fitting lids.
This beautiful 7-quart Dutch oven demonstrates why All-Clad's worldwide reputation is unsurpassed--the company makes cookware that is practical as well as beautiful. This pan is perfect for braising veal shanks, baking beans, or slow cooking choucroute under its domed lid. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly, even though the oven is 5-1/2 inches deep (11-3/4 inches in diameter). And because the interior is nonreactive, tomatoes and other acidic foods won't taste metallic. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel lid and stay-cool loop handles are riveted for strength and won't be harmed by an oven's heat. Hand washing this oven will preserve its jewel-like beauty during the lifetime warranty against defects--and beyond. --Fred BrackTop to learn more
